PHP date options

Dear Helpers (i hope :o)

I'm just starting to use PHP on my site and since I don't have any real programming experience it is as we say a challenge..

In learning php there is one thing I haven't found and that is how I can get the date split up in to day month and year. So what I want is to get this information for today of this month and this year.

Do you know if there is a "get day" function within PHP?? and if there is how to use it.

If you have your date in the way yyyy-mm-dd you can split it using the php function explode() if you only have a timestamp, you can use the date() function to format it the way you need it .... yyyy-mm-dd would be
date("Y-m-d");
Have a look at the manual for all the date parameters ... of course thats only one solution to your problem ...

try the date() function:
$today = date("l, F j Y");
echo $today;

will print "Thursday, October 26 2000"

Check the PHP manual for even more formatting options.
