php4- record level control in mysql.

I am in the early stages of planning a site using php4 and mysql. The site will be interactive, allowing users the ability to search a mysql database. In addition however, I would like users to be able to add records to certain tables, which is pretty straight forward. My question is this, I would also like users to be able to delete and or modify records as well, but only THIER records and not any one elses. Insight on decent ways to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

I assume that you're users are going to have to login to do any inserting. In which case all you need to do is store the users id along with any entry. Now when a user is viewing one of there own submissions you can dispaly a delete/update button that will take you're user to the apporpriate page.

Just remember to check the user before putting the updated info into the database.

phplib implements very good user security and the auth_user.username can be used as a foreign key in the table you want users to insert/modify data.
