Keeping a file in memory

Hi all,

Let's suposse I have a file called "foo.xml"
every php script in my site use this file
so I want to read it from disk only once and keep it in memory.

I want to know which is the best strategy in your opnion to do so: a shared memory segment? nothing at all? other techniques?

"Premature optimization is the root of all evil." (Knuth, or
one of many other possible attributions.) By all means
don't worry about it unless you know and can prove it's
a bottleneck by actual measurements. Otherwise, the
server's disk cache will probably give you all the benefit
you need if it really is used frequently.
