I am new to PHP and MySQL but I am learning fast and successfully.
I have a working database that I am trying to make more functional. I am hoping for a little advice on the best method to attack this problem. The more code examples given the better!
There is a manufacturing line that sheets of plastic are created on.
The line can produce a limited amount of material constrained by weight each day.
Orders are submitted to the Plant Manager who enters them into the database.
Several orders are often manufactured in a single day depending on whether they exceed the weight limit 1200lbs.
The database is viewed in a web browser by sales people so that they can tell when orders are being processed.
The problem comes when the Plant Manager makes changes or inserts new orders into dates that already have orders and are at their weight limit for that date.
So when the plant manager adds 400lbs to Oct 1 and Oct 1 already has four oreders that add up to 1000lbs, 200lbs need to go to Oct 2 but then that changes Oct 2 so it needs to be checked and adjusted so it is not over weight too and so on and so on until the last date in the table is under 1200lbs.
Is this impossible.
