parse a string through php

hello friends,

how can i parse a string with php, i.e. have the same behavior as with include for files?

i would like to read a file in a string, do some replacement operations with it, and then include it as a part of the calling php script.

it can't be that i really have to write the data to a file and then open it again, can it?

it must be that i am totally stupid, but as i really searched rather long for an answer myself in the web and was not succesful, i would like to ask you

So you want to read in a string, make some changes to it, and then have that string become part of the actual PHP code?

First, look at the string functions in the manual. There are replace functions or regular expressions that you can use to change the string around.

For the second part, the only thing I can think of is the eval() command. Look into it in the PHP manual.
