How to initialize a variable?

Hi..

I would like to set the error reporting level in my scripts to 15 so that I can be sure I am writing good clean code... I have tried this but I find I get errors like this:

Warning: Uninitialized variable or array index or property (Msg) in /webs/test/pages/test.php3 on line 21

How exactly does on 'initialise' a variable or an array...

I assume there is a way !!!

In vbscript(urgh) I believe it is DIM... is there something similar in PHP...

var $my_var;
