tables on the fly

This may be chalked up to stupid question, but it truly is one that's stumped me.

Using Perl and MySQL, you can generate tables inside a datbase on the fly, as you need them. I've poked around at php's functions and yet to see something that allows you to do this with mysql. Am I just missing something obvious? How do I generate new tables and their definitions on the fly from inside of php?

Any pointers appreciated.

I suppose, you need mysql_query() function:
$result = mysql_query ("CREATE TABLE...")
It's description you can find here in manual. Is that what you mean "on the fly"? :-)
