PHP4.0.2 fopen("ftp://..","a")

Hi,

I am trying to append data to a file on a ftp server using the following:

$ftphost = "foohost";
$perm_url = "ftp://user:passwd@$ftphost/foodir/foofile";

$fp = fopen($perm_url,"a");

But I get a "File Already exists" error. Can anybody help me with this??

I tried "a+" mode also but it didn't work too...

I got the exact error message myself. I can't figure it out either. If you found the problem could you email me.. Or if anyone knows the solution, could you please email me?

Manual:
You can also write to files on an FTP as long you connect as a user with the correct access rights, and the file doesn't exist already.

I am having the same problem... I get an
Warning: fopen"ftp://...@/etc/namedb/donniemoss.com.hosts.1","w") - File exists in dns_update.php on line 5

Any one know what causes this? If I erase the file then it writes it just fine.
