Remember password box

Hello, I'm new to PHP, however I created a username/password login on my site, and would like to provide a "[] remember password" checkbox, so once someone checked it and clicked submit, it goes into their cookies and next time they visit the site the password will be already in. How do I do that?

You will need to check that check box from the form and set a cookie. The PHP documentation is a good place to start.

With the header() function, you can cook a cookie. And you can get that cookie back using $HTTP_COOKIE_VARS['username'] (if you've set a cookie value to 'username' of course)

Actually you have a setcookie function that does this for you (instead writing the headers yourself).

The problem is: what gets stored in that cookie. You can't just store the username (someone could "steal" your account just by setting a cookie with your username).

So... what should be stored in the cookie?
