How can I shut down MYSQL?

Hey man, this may be a stupid question for you experts, but I'm really a beginner.

I know that to shut up MYSQL I have to:

c:>cd mysql\bin
c:\mysql\bin>mysqld

and to shut it down?

I'm running it on win98 machine.

Did you try mysqladmin shutdown ?

you might have to pass your username and password, depending on how you have it set up.

mysqladmin -uroot shutdown

or

mysqladmin -uuser -ppassword shutdown
