Extract from database...

Well I made up my first database and I can easily show on a page all its contents (3 products for now).

I want to know, I saw on a lot of sites that they use:

http://www.mysite.com/page.php?id=whatever

Is this the method to link to a database and display the selected ID?

You should add a field in your database called id and have it be auto_increment - this will give each field a unique identifier. That's the ?id=21 or whatever. It's the field unique id. So if you have 2 products called Red Hat, they'll still be different with that unique id.
