Hi! Could anyone give me ideas on the following scenario :

The user types in a URL and a brief description on that URL. Now I want to verify (through PHP scripting) that the URL the user entered matches the description. All this has to be automated and the site verification works in real-time.

Any clues/suggestions?

How could you possibly verify the url vs the description? That sounds like AI of a pretty high order! :-) Or do you perhaps mean to verify that the url exists? This you could do by just opening a socket to the url and see if you can read the first line of the http result headers.

Thanks for replying (Captain "StarShip") Kirk. I actually need to verify the sites contents. Suppose the URL is : www.php.net and the entered description is "Hypertest preprocessor scripting, supports mySQL and a host of other DB's with the Zend optimizer". Now the script should lookup www.php.net and "compare & verify" the entered description against the actual live content (or Meta tags) on the site.

Its doable but I need feedback from the community on how? Any suggestions are also welcome.

What you want to do is very complex because you never know what your user's idea of a description is.

All you can do is match words between the description and the actual page, and hope that when X words match, it's a good description.

But, if the description contains the word HTM a lot, while the page uses HTML,
then you will probably find it a bad description, even though it is 100% accurate.

It is definately NOT easy.

But I'm out here to do just that. Its difficult and thats the beauty of it. Maybe by using a syntax template or a fuzzy dictionary. But ultimately need input from all you guys out there.
