Hi. I have a project at work where the UNIX admin wants me to be able to decrypt a UNIX password (Solaris 7). I do not have the mcrypt module installed with my php4. Is there any way to do this?

No, neither with nor without mycrpt. The passwords are hashed, not encrypted, so there's no way back w/o some kind of cryptographic attack.

If it's any consolation, you could ask them, "And how unhappy would you be with Sun if it turned out that Solaris passwords really were that easy to crack???"
