Count number letters

Of the entire thing I had to write I didn't expect this to be a problem, but it is.

I've got the variable $html and I want to count the number of letters of the word which was put into that variable.

I couldn't find it at www.php.net and I'm pretty sure it's quite easy to do.

Help?

$string_length = strlen($html);

will give you the length of the $html variable.
