Hello,

I have a registration page where the user can enter his/her username and password. How can I encrypt the password in php and decrypt it when needed?

Can you please send me the two php codes to do this, label which one does what. Also how secure is the encryption?

You can't use php to encrypt the password when it is sent from the browser to your php script.

If you want a secure encrypted connection, use SSL.

Basically I want the password in the database to be encrypted so if anyone does get into it they won't be able to know the password.

Also you can use md5 function
use like
$name="John";
$password="123";
$crypted=md5($name.$password);
echo $crypted;

When a user wants to identify himself, you encrypt the string he enters and compare it to the allready encrypted password you stored in your database.

Like Mark H sayd you must manipulate with md5 like
if ($encrypted == md5($user.$password)){
echo "It's OK"
}
else echo "try again";

Ok, but what if the user forgets his/her password. I need something to decrypt it so that when the user enters his/her username and email, the password will be sent to them decrypted in their mailbox.

Why you should it decrypt when you can save user name and user password into table?
