Working with email piped to PHP

I have created an alias in sendmail to pipe email to a PHP script that I would like to use to process the email. The alias works fine, but I am uncertain how to access the contents of the email (STDIN). The PHP script is running as a CGI and I want to parse the email and insert into a MySQL DB. Once I can get the email into a variable I'm good to go. Anyone know how to get it into a variable though?

Well, if you want to read from stdin you might want to look at fopen("php://stdin","r")
