Generate new page in CURRENT window?

hello everyone,

I\'m trying to do something very simple with php that can be done with javascript with the command:
this.document.open();

Basically I\'m trying to do this:
A user clicks on the thumbnail of an image, thereby calling a function that CLEARS the current page and loads the larger version of the image.

The thing is, I don\'t know what the command in PHP would be to clear the current page. Note that I don\'t want to open a new browser window (that would be too easy ;-).

I would recommend using a hyperlink
syntax = <a href="location">label</a> and let the browser take care of it.

Be careful though...I think I read on slashdot about this method being copyrighted

This last method might work. I should have noted that I want to clear the current page and load a new page, with stylesheets and all. So I don't just want to link the image, and let the browser take the user to that link, of course.

You may also want to look at custom windows, where you pop up a new window the correct size, correct location with no power bars or sliders, and a single close button. Sometimes this works better for certain types of data generation and display.

erm.. so you just want to load a new page that just displays the image.
Have you thought about just doing that? Linking to a php script that just displays the image you asked for?

I agree with two of the posts in this thread. Either use a straight

or you could do some Javascript:

Has to be onmouseup, onclick is no good in NN4.

Then your php script would take the passed parameter $image and work out which file to display.
