Email in Plain text and HTML with Images

I want to send an email which may or may not
have an HTML formatted body depending upon a condition.
The question I would like answered is, using the simple mail function of php can I send an Email which will look like an HTML page complete with Gifs and all.

I don't want to send an HTML attachment..
Is it possible ??

the "simple" mail function is the mail function.
There is only one way to send mail.
Wether or not your email looks like an html page depends on what you put in your email message.

have a look through the forum as this kind of questiojn has been answered by people who know more about html email than I do.

I know about the mail function which sends basic text messages ...... what else you got ??

Like I said, there is nothing other than the basic mail message. It's the content of the basic mail message that causes the mail client (your email program) to interpret the email as html or whatever.
