i want to make translate language program. the default language is English. i will translate from english to italian and so i will need dynamic input form that will display only where some italian language has not been transleted yet. example :

no| English | Italian |
1 | name | nome |
2 | address |indirizzo |
3 | hobby | ? |
4 | sex | ? |

All i wan't to do is build query to check italian language that not has been translate in English yet, and show them in input form, like this.

i have already build queries like this :
sql1= "select from mytable where language = 'English'and NO='$no';
sql2= "select from mytable where language = 'Italian' and NO='$no';

so... if (sql1 != sql2) { show input form} else { do nothing};

I don't know what exactly query to do that.. please help me and thanks so much

hai..

since u are using | as the word separator in Language column....there will be 2 word separators next to each other...u can use this statement..

"select * from mytable where substr(language,strlen(language),1)='||'"

You can also using split..command..

select * from mytable where No=$No

after fetching the row..split language
like
split('|',$row[language])
split[0] will be english word..and split[1] will be italian...if second is null.then.that is ur desired row..

Do you put a "?" in the "italian" column when a word is not translated?
then get all untranslated words using:
SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE Italian='?';

I don't put "?" in records that hasn't been translated yet.

"?" means blank records (record that hasn't been inserted). So..i will insert into that blank record with the same NO (number) as English language had.

So you are using two tables, not just one.

first, I don't think this is a smart thing to do if you only have one translatet word for each english word.

second, you'll have to select from to tables at the same time using a join:

select * from english_table,italian_table
where english_table.id=italian_table.id
and italian_table.word is null;

third, using a NULL in a table is generally not a good idea as it actually takes up more space than an empty string.
