Extra lines in textarea when mailed

I have a form which has it's contents
e-mailed when submitted. It is important that the form received in e-mail looks just like it did when submitted. It also has to be able to accept file attachments. I have written the page, and everything is working fine...except that any text areas on the form have extra lines when received in mail.
It is as though every newline is being replaced with two newlines. The e-mail is
being sent as a MIME multipart/mixed with
text/html and image/gif when there is an attachment, and text/plain and text/html when there is not. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.

I have had the same problem... The only solution I have found is to replace \n\n with \n. But there must be a better solution.

I have found the answer!
It seems like the web browser puts in extra \r when you press return to get a new row inside the textarea. You take the extra \r's away like this:

$message = ereg_replace("\r","",$message);
