Learning PHP

Im a complete newbie to coding in PHP but would love to learn. Where can I find tutorials and/or easy to follow examples.

Also, what books would you recomend

The webmonkey one got me started, and the official php manual (its a 800 odd page download in pdf format from www.php.net I use, and Vincent will complain if ya don't know it off by heard before posting a message 🙂)

I also use the David Medinets book PHP3, Programming Browser Based Applications, its expensive, but quite a useful resource as covers a lot of areas, though not in a lot of detail.

P.S. You need a webhost supporting PHP to use this of course... and preflably some SQL language if you want to use the database capabilities, no free sites support this to my knowledge.

I have never read a book on php but have read many tutorials. I go to www.hotscripts.com first for anything I am interested in reading on. They have a vast amount of tutorials, info on books, related websites, already made scripts/programs on languages including: perl, php, python, java, javascript, asp, and more.

Also going to www.altavista.com and doing a search for php tutorials should give you a few good finds.

Im aiming to become a scripter at www.vitalizeme.com as I already am a Quality Control but thats not enough for me 🙂

ah, well good luck then, and as the the other reply I agree, webmonkey is the one I used to get my started but I've gone through hundreds of other pages for little bits of info.
I just use the book as its sometimes easy reference 🙂
