Hey!
there is a site www.migente.com that has most of its files as html. I was always curious which dynamic lang they used. Today the site was down for a bit..well it was screwed up to say the least. The output was all jumbled up garbage with some ledgible code.

The code had /lib/login.php and /logwriter.php embedded in it..so its safe to say it was php correct? or can perl call php files?? i'm not sure about that.

But the real quesiton is how do they use PHP and at the same time output HTML files? what sort of caching mechanism is this? Is it possible to parse .html files (in php)?

...through your php interpreter just as you would pass php files. Using Apache, open your httpd.conf file and add this line:

Action text/html "<location of php>"

All this does is cause Apache to send all html documents through the php interpreter. This takes a little longer but the delay is minimal.

Actually, the correct way is to add the line
AddType application/x-httpd-php .html
or just add .html to the end of the line that looks like that (AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .html).
