crontab - again......

Hi again,

I am back with another crontab question, so here goes:

Is there any way to avoid that the cron deamon sends a mail reporting errors, or in my case warnings. Crontab is executing a php script periodically. This script generates two warnings that cannot be avoided, and it would be greatly appreciated not to receive an e-mail reporting those warnings every time crontab runs the file (i.e. every minute). Does anyone have any tips concerning this issue? How do I get rid of the mail??

put this:

/dev/null

after your command to redirect all output from the script to the /dev/null (in's blau hinein, into the great big beyond)
and in your PHP, use the @ in front of the commands that give warnings to surpress the message, like:

$result=@();

using a 2>&1 > /dev/null after the command will also redirect stderr, in case the script/program gives output on stderr as well
