i need help in java

Sorry folks for putting up problems of java on this php board
But i need all the help and i have been unable to find a decent board to solve my java problems.
I think many visitors here will be able to solve the problem.
My problem is as follows
Is there something like a chop or split in java that can help me in splitting up a string into different strings based on the character i choose
For eg
let the string be
i;am;mad
now i would like to cplit this into three strings
i
am
mad
is there a method by which this can br done

you can use the indexOf() method in combination with the substring() method to extract a ssequence of substrings that are seperated by ; from a single string...

Btw, as you two know some\a lot of Java, how tough is it to learn?

I've never bothered cause it doesn't seem to be able to do much, certainly for me PHP was a better option, plus it seemed a lot easier, is it?

Just a got a Comp Sci degree coming up, and I gotta learn Java, I guess the experience in HTML, PHP, JS and even the great Qbasic (!!!) will help, but how hard is it?!

Its not tough
but you need to have your programming basics very clear
i knew c,c++ so the transition was quite easy
if you have no previous experience in programming then please learn a bit of c++ & then switch over to java.That will help you a lot

Better yet, use java.util.StringTokenizer

Something like:

StringTokenizer tokens = new StringTokenizer(myString, ";");

while (tokens.hasMoreTokens())
{
System.out.println(tokens.nextToken());
}
