Display of £ sign

I am using mysql with php and dragging in a field from the database which for example might =

Fees = £10 per hour

When this displays in IE or Netscape it shows:

Fees = ,10 per hour

the £ sign being replaced by a comma

I am at a loss as to how to fix this - any ideas?

Why don't you use htmlentities() ?

Hi Elizabeth - do a preg_replace for the text so that instead of putting £ into the db, put in £ - this is the HTML equivalent.
