Getting uptime of C coded services.

does anyone know a way to get php to call to a C application to get the uptime. I am the owner of a irc network and coder of the ircd and services, I'm working on a new website interface that will allow me to show how long the services have been connected to the network for. We don't email to you personally, the forum offers an email service already and this forum aims to give information to everyone, not to individuals.

Can your ircd report it's uptime via a commandline option? then you can use backticks to execute that command.

Or you could look at the age of the PID file (if you have one)
