redirect forms

Hi,
In PHP4 how can I redirect the link based on some conditions. I am using HTML for forms.I don't wan't to use <a> for redirecting.. the url should be changed based on some conditions.Please reply for this message..

Using the header() function, as long as you have not output even a single line, you can redirect the browser to load another page.

Thank U.. but this didn't work out for me .. Is there any other way i can transfer the program flow to other file based on condition.I am badly in need of that option.

Can you include a snippet of your code where you use the header() function and also any errors you got when trying it?

What conditions are you looking for. If you are testing the data against a databse you are best of using functions. ie

<?php
function testuser()

use this for the top line of your form
<form action="<?php print $PHP_SELF; ?>">

(this will loop the form so you can check your data)

extracted from a csv file.I used HTML Redirector etc.. but nothing
seemed to work.

Any Ideas on Achieving this.

When I tried using headers -- i get the following error.

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (script name)

Hrmm ... all I do is take some variables from a form check that against a database and then need to send them off to the appropriate url.

i suppose i could just print a META Refresh ...

I sucessfully got redirected after i had echoed this stuff..

Make sure you are not sending any output before you use the header() function.

Make sure that "<?php" is the very first line in the file, that there are no spaces before the "<", and that you aren't printing, echoing, etc anything before you call header().

Also check any files you are including. I had a case where I had some spaces on the last line of an included file after the ?>

Yeh I got it working -- basically you can have no spaces at all and you can not write anything before doing a header.

I to am having a heck of a time with the redirect.

I know it's not rocket science, but somethings wrong.
I have a series of radio buttons and based on the selection I want page to load that was choosen.
My script is
<?
header("location: $name of buttons);
exit;
?>
I'm getting an error. HUM ideas?

Hmmm...I'm not sure if you meant to have the "of buttons" there, but as long as $name contains the URL of the site you want to redirect to, this should work:

<?php
header("Location: $name");
?>

If $name contains an absolute URL, the browser will be taken there. If $name contains a relative URL, the browser will be taken the the path relative to the location of this script.

I want to know how to redirect the sane input form to the client indicating the wrong fiilings in his form so that he can correct them and send it again.

Hai Buddy,
Just pass on the Parameters that you want to Push on the client (Along with the values).Since you are Directly Redirecting the Client , you will have to set the Values ahead before you issue a Redirect.

and the rest is same as follows.

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;URL=site">

And this worked out for me smoothly.
