Thanks. I had asked him the following:
Browsing around at www.phpbuilder.com I gather that for me to use MYSQL:
1. You need to provide me with :
a. host (in my case www.egwald.com
b. username,
c. password, and
d. databasename
2.He replied: What needs to be done is to have it set up on the server side with a DSN for the database. I am not sure of the path where it is actually stored but once you have the DSN that's all that you need to reference the database.
He then supplied me with b. and c. above.
Then he said: (repeating my first post above)
"The database file needs to be up on the site before the system administrator can set up the DSN for you. If you could get that uploaded, we'll get the DSN set up and then we should be off to the races. I'll let you know once I hear back from the system administrators that the DSN has been set up for you."
I thought this was weird too, because I intend to use php and mysql to set up the tables in the database once I know its name.
