How to create a text variable ?

Hi,
i would like a text variable in a php page to change depending on how I call the page.

Example:

if section1 (like apage.php?section=1)
$meta=hello
$text=my name is bob

if section2 (like apage.php?section=2)
$meta=bonjour !
$text=welcome to the site

I would like to be able to put in the page the $meta and $text variables so they will change depending on which page they are.

How can I do this ?

If I understand you question correctly:
you can easily check any values passed in either the query string (GET) or ENV vars (POST)
try something like this:

if ($section == 1)
{
$meta="hello";
$test="my name is bob";
}
elseif ($section == 2)
{
$meta="bonjour";
$test="welcome to the site";
}
else
{
//some default text
$meta="hiya";
$text="take a look around";
}
You can add as many elseif's as you need, but having an else at the end is a safety net incase no match is found.

you can try this since me know php for two days.. =0) all u need create three files down below.. when your done, type apage.php?section=1 or 2 and will input from 1.inc.php or 2.inc.php file.. that should works.. =0)

apage.php<-- create this file

<?php
if(!$section) $section=1;
include "$section.inc.php";

?>

1.inc.php<-- create this file

hello

my name is bob

1.inc.php<-- create this file

bonjour !

welcome to the site bob

Ok thanks, then once this call is on the page, how do I include the variables ?

It's really simple... add this to the top of the page (as Alex wrote):

Then when you want to include it in your actual HTML page, do it like this:

etcetera.
