PHP Portfolio Tracking

Hi all, I am trying to put something together to track stock trading and have a simple PHP /MySQL setup to track price, shares, symbol, date, buy /sell, Status (open /closed) and such. But now I am to the math part and stumped 🙂

I need to multiply the $shares by the $price when it comes out of the database. The goal of this is to be able to generate a schedule D at the end of the year.

p.s. I have looked all over the net for something like this already but havent found anything suitable. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Either fetch the data and do

$outcome=$shares*$price

or let SQL do it (that's what the database is for)

SELECT shares*price AS outcome FROM table WHERE bla bla bla;

you can then fetch "outcome" from the resultset.
