Verify e-mail in forms...

What function can I use to see if there is a "@" in my e-mail variable?

Please search the forum. There have been quite a few very good examples of how to check for valid email adress formats.

Hi....Ok...I found the following code:

if(ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email)) {
return true;
} else {
return false;
}

My problem is:
If it returns true, how can I just ask the code to keep going?
I tried to do:

if(ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email)) = 0 {
echo("Invalid email address format");
}

but it's not working...What can I do to just do something if it returns false??

change the "=" to "==".
You want to compare values, not assign them.

looks like you forgot the ) after the ==0...

your code sniplet:
/ line 14 / if (ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email)) == 0 {

should read:
/ line 14 / if (ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email)) == 0) {

Oh! I see...Actually I have to delete one ) and put one after "0".

Try this:
$myemail="[e-mail]";
If(Ereg("[[:alnum:]]+@[[:alnum:]]+.[[:alnum:]]+",$myemail)){
echo "Correct Format";
}else{
echo "Incorrect Format";
}

Take a close look at the opening and closing parantheses

/ line 14 / if (ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email)) == 0)

You open to contain the if statement, OK.
you open to contain the content of the ereg, OK
you close the content of the ereg, OK

but then whoops ?? you close straight before the comparison operator.

try :
/ line 14 / if (ereg("^.+@.+\..+$", $email) == 0)

and i think that it should work this way
