SSL?

Hi,

I have a form in php which helps me to get user id and password, I want to make the data transfer from the form at the client site to the server secure. How can I do it? Also I would like to make all the connections after a successful login takes place secure.

Can somebody help me with this?

Easy. If your host already has ssl set up that all you need to do is make all of your secure page links be https:// instead of http://.

As an additional security measure, have the page check the port it's being executed from and make sure it really is the SSL port.

Hi Bob,
First I am pretty new to SSL.
You said that to have SSL connection if my host is already setup for SSL I just need to change the URL into https://...

So what would I need the PHP (open)SLL functions for? In my ignorance I thought that I should control manually the encryption and decryption.
Can you please explain me this?
