Storing data on the users PC

Hi,

for example, I want to create a user-based page-hit counter. I can use session_register(), but this data will vanish when the browser is closed. Now I want to keep this data when he restarts his browser.

Is there any way to do this?

use cookies, read the PHP manual for more info.

Cookies would be the best thing to use to keep track of a users hits on a page... all you would have to do create a cookie if the user has never been on the site and then set his count to 1.

example:

setcookie ("CounterCookie",$count,time()+604800);
