automatic e-mail of new items

Hi folks, how's it going?

I'll get right to the point...

I am trying to create a script that will be run at a scheduled time - probably every week or twice a week - that will get the newest items from a database and put them in an e-mail which will then be sent to a list of people. (yes, it's an opt-in list)

I want to know the best way to structure the creation of the e-mail.

I can't seem to figure out how to create the e-mail once to be used as it's sent multiple times. I don't want it to have to create the e-mail for each recipient - it seems like it would be much more efficient to store the finished e-mail which is then included in a loop to all recipients.

I know this has got to be simple and the solution is right on the tip of my brain, but not quite there, if you know what I mean 🙂

Any insights into this situation would be greatly appreciated!

Try this:

$recipients = array("[e-mail]", "[e-mail]", "[e-mail]", "[e-mail]");
$message = "These are my new stuff from my database....";

for ($i = 0; $i < sizeof($recipients); $i++) {
mail($recipients[$i], "New Stuff", $message);
}

and that should do it. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi Joshua, thanks a ton! That helps significantly.

Now, how about sending HTML e-mails with this method? I have a complex HTML layout built that I just need to get in the body now. I could just take care of it in the $message variable, except that it requires some quotes as is.
