cookie www problem

I have just found a problem. Hope anyone can help on this one.

Here the cookie code

setcookie("username",$username,$date,"",".gopile.com");

Trouble is, when people access the site with just gopile.com instead of www.gopile.com I believe the cookie isn't being set on Netscape. Any help?
