Is there any reason you are keeping items that are 'in the cart' locally on your server, rather than just keep their item ids as a cookie or passed around serialized array (on the client's browser) until the actual purchase is made?
Seems like a waste of server resources to me. The information of 'what the customer wants to buy' is meaningless until you actually get down to checking out, at which point you can verify the ids with the customer and take the credit card #.
But, to do what you ask, I'd presume that you have these 10 records linked together with a serial key identifier or something...
'Delete from $table where id=$id';
