The Zend PHP IDE looks quite good, but it's not for free ...

try Ultraedit. I use it for PHP, Perl, Java, ASP, C etc......

Reasonably priced. excellent customisation and code viewing facilities

(Of course, this assumes you are using Windows, else vi)

      Thanks

I recently found PHP Coder, a freeware IDE for PHP on Windows. There's still room for improvement but it's not bad for a start. You can integrate the php.exe and IE so that you can easily preview the output of your scripts within the IDE.

You can download it from http://www.phpide.de/

          UWE.

            a year later

Arisesoft Winsyntax - is a PHP-code editor, with the syntax highlighting and the context
            help for professional scripting. Freeware.

Do you have the older pre-Magnum version of PHP coder? I just inadvertently installed the "Pro" beta version from Abriasoft & it sucks. I can't seem it find it anywhere now that it's become a Magnum product.
