Passing values between frames using link

Hello,
I'm trying to pass values between frames, using links like this one:

echo "<a href=\"url.html?variablename=$value\" target=\"targetframename\">link text</a>";

This works just fine with Internet Explorer, but it doesn't with Netscape. I would be very gratefull if anyone could help me out with this.....

The photo album I've built uses php in frames, passing values from frame to frame. I haven't noticed any difficulties with Netscape.

The only difference my code has from this is that I don't use any quotes in the HREF tag. The crucial area is in the values passed. Values passed in HREF are essentially passed as a URL even if it's only internal to the frame. Quotes inside a URL generally causes problems.

I use <A HREF=grid.php?cat=People TARGET=MAIN> instead of <A HREF=grid.php?cat="People">

Have you tried urlencode
eg $barurl = "barchart.php?graph_url=";
$barurl .= urlencode($graph_url);
$barurl .= "&realstartdate=" . $realstartdate;
$barurl .= "&realenddate=" . $realenddate;
$vmargin = 40;
$barurl .= "&vmargin=" . $vmargin;
$hmargin = 38;
$barurl .= "&hmargin=" . $hmargin;
$height = 300;
$barurl .= "&height=" . $height;
$width = 400;
$barurl .= "&width=". $width;
$barurl .= "&callcontrol=". $call_control;

which would output: barchart.php?graph_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwap.genie.co.uk%2F&realstartdate=976698000&realenddate=976701600&vmargin=40&hmargin=38&height=300&width=400&callcontrol=BTCellNet
