Delayed auto-reply?

How do I delay an auto-reply to a form? I have already tried sleep(), but I need it to be delayed one or two hours, and this always times out on our server.

I have thought about throwing the info into a mysql db table and trying to time it that way, but I don't know where to start.

Any suggestions?

Yes, by mail, i.e., someone fills out a form. It emails the answers to our marketing dept. They want to send the user an auto-reply "thank you", but they don't want it to go out right away. They want it to be delayed by 24 hours (don't ask me why, something about making it seem more "personal").

Obviously, using sleep(86400) will stall the server. Is there another way to do this?

I have a feeling I will end up having to put the user info in our mysql db so that the marketing dept can send out batches of auto-replies every 24 hours or so.
