First letter Capital rest undercase

Is their a php funtion that takes a string (one word) and converts it so the first lettter is capital and the rest of the word is lowercase.

For example

hElP = Help
GRaSSes = Grasses

ucfirst(strtolower($string))

I think vincent got the solution for your problem. However, be careful when using these kind of functions on names. I did just this, a function to split a name and capitalize every first letter of a word (and converting the rest to lowercase). When His Royal Highness the Prince of Norway signed up for our conference, it turned into Hrh instead of HRH. (That is, the norwegian equiliant😉 The secretaries tried to fix this approx. once every 10 seconds, but ofcourse there was no way around the function. Pretty embarrasing I must say.

Thanks for the help. I dont think i will have that problem i have a seperate variable for firstname lastname and prefix.

Terje why didn't they check for the Hrh afterwards and replace it with the right one...

Also a nice routine to use for purposes like this is ucwords()...
