Can\\\'t access session vars in functions

Greetings, I\\'m new to php and i\\'m having problems with accessing my session variables from with functions. My question is do i need to pass session values into functions, as i would normally do with say a global variable, syntax as follows - \\"$GLOBALS[networkpath]\\" because doing it like this \\"$networkpath\\" dosen\\'t seem to work. I\\'ve got to convert part of a site from asp to php quickly and would be grateful for any advice you can spare me thanks.

You can pass it into the function like this

function funcname($sessionvar)
{ }

or you could make it a global var

function funcname(){
global $sessionvar;
}

Thanks very much for you help Bouche, i suspected that i'd have to pass it in as a global variable, u see i did'nt really want to pass it in as a parameter for reasons dictated by the mechanics of the code i'm writing.

I thought I would be able to reference it as you would normally a session variable within a html page (e.g '$sessionvariable') but thanks again.
