stopping \ before " and '

Hi,

I am making a webmail system thingy. I have a problem.

PHP likes to put \ in front of some characters. When I pass the body of the e-mail which is in HTML format to the MIME builder it adds them...

when the message is received the formatting is not displayed properly because every " arrives as \"

I'm sure there's a simple solution to this - but as a relatevely new person to PHP I don't know how!

any ideas?
