Array sorting problem

Hi,
I have a 2-dimensionnal array containing informations about some sport league results:

__________|Played|Points|Goal Av.|
Arsenal | 27 | 50 | 20 |
Liverpool | 26 | 45 | 19 |
Manch. U. | 27 | 63 | 42 |
Sunderland| 27 | 44 | 7 |

I can access each "cell" of my array by using the following syntax:

$array[$team_name]["Played"] = ...

Now, I want to be able to sort the teams by "Points" (primary criteria) and "Goal Av." (secondary criteria), to get something like:

rank| Team |Played|Points|Goal Av.|
1 |Manch. U. | 27 | 63 | 42 |
2 |Arsenal | 27 | 50 | 20 |
3 |Liverpool | 26 | 45 | 19 |
4 |Sunderland| 27 | 44 | 7 |

How can this be done ? (array_multisort ? How ?)

as far as i know you cannot sort multi dimensional arrays with the sort functions in php (if anyone know more, please tell it). But I would first put the relevant data in one string (like pointsgoalav with a zeros in front. for manchester: 063042) Then I would make an array out of it like:

$sorting["manchester"]=063042;
$sorting["arsenal"]=050020;
and so on...

then you can sort it with the php sort function: asort($sorting);

and then you can display the original array with the wanted order, like:

for (reset ($sorting); $key = key ($sorting); next ($sorting)) {
echo $array[$key]["Goal Av."]." : ".$array[$key]["points"]."<br>";
}

(like in the asort example in the php-docs)and so on !

I finally choosed to create TEMPORARY TABLEs in MySQL to store my array and to sort the information... It's a bit slow, but the easiest way I found.
