How can I save the text in a plain HTML textarea, including all the spaces and brakes to my MySQL database?

Cause now when I write in the textarea and I DO include brakes and spaces and tab's, and I go look in the database, all the data is put right after eachother without the brakes and spaces and tab's.....

Is there a trick for this problem??

mmmm maybe it saves them as special char like \t that MAYBE views doesnt support... have u tried to do a query from php? how does it look?

What do views have to do with it? :-)

Displaying something in and HTML page is quite different from displaying something using the Mysql client program. Don't compare the two.

Yes, I know what you mean....MySQL can not display any special characters, you have to weave in HTML to do that. But that was not my problem really.

What I mean is for example......uhm..

Like Hotmail.....when one types in an email message, the receiver sees exactly the same structure of the original message, with all the spaces and tabs and all......you know what I mean? has it something to do with this <PRE> html tag?...... i have no clue

mmmm im not sure to have understood (my english... sigh i have to learn it better 🙂 ) but:
1) if u want to substitute chars like \n with <br> for example u can use normal function substitution
2) if u want to output yr field in another textarea dont worry and do it....
3) if u want to block special chars like html tags u have to use htmlentities
hope that the solution is among this choices (they are 3 possible my interpretation of yr sentence 🙂 )
