Test program in php that odbc works

Hi,
- I have 2 computers server+client:

• On the server I have windows 2000 pro with ms access 2000 and I have configrued a system dsn.

• On the client I have a linux machine with apache 1.3.12,php4,unixOdbc installed.
  I have also installed easysoft bridge 2000 for odbc.

• Php scripts work fine and now i want to add odbc connections from linux to pc

• I have configred /etc/odbc.ini to have a system dsn to connect to the ms access and it workes (I have tried the demo program from easysoft).

The problem is that php doesn't recognize the function odbc_connect().

What do I have to do ?

Well the problem is obvious... php doesn't have any functions for MS Access only for Microsoft SQL Server..

What is your solution: 1. posgresql.org
2. mysql.com

I'd suggest using mysql. I know that postgresql is faster than Access and MySQL is 2-3 times faster than poasgresql.

well, I don't have a solution ... but this is not a correct statement, the universal ODBC functions should work fine with Access.

Most of the problem lay in the DSn connection. Did you make an DSN on your server to ? Otherwise, the odbc_connect function work fine, I'm working with MS ACCESS and MYSQl, SQL and never had problems with connecting to the dbase.

i think you need to put "extension=odbc.so" in your /etc/php.ini and restart apache. you will need odbc.so in your system.
