printing Blob type image to Browser

hello,
i am trying to print the images to browser stored in MYSQL database(as BLOB type)but results in display of binary data
not the images..
i am using echo for this but results in printing of Binary data..kindly help me
out..

Are you issuing a content type header for your data before echoing the data? i.e.:

Header( "Content-type: image/jpeg");

(or image/gif - whatever your MIME type should be!)

hi ruchi,

to display image, not binary data. u have to specify MIME TYPE like,
1)make a php file(pic.php3) which contains this :

<?
Header( "Content-type: image/gif");
echo $imagedatafromdatabase;
?>

2)where ever u want to display image use following code

<img src=pic.php3>

I am actually making a photo archiev where on open search first the thumbsized images are displayed and then on further clicks mid size and large size images are shown.

Initally we had kept all the images in three diff. folders and images accassion number(filename) were in data base. now i have kept all the images as blob in mysql data base. single image is easy to display but to show 20 thumbnails on one page is becoming difficult, it is just showing binary garbage.

yes I have set the header("Content-type: image/jpeg")

I tried doing your way, but as I stated above I want to display multiple images, I am finding no point creating that many files on the server. as this would be of no use, already I have all the three files.

can u tell me one more thing what is added advantage of keeping images as blobs than files. logic i understand is searching would become faster,as eventually there would be more than 2 laks of images.

Does anyone know how to get this to display in IE5? I can't get IE5 to work, but other browsers display the image.
