drop boxes

I am fairly new to php so please excuse my ignorance to this question. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible to populate drop boxes from queries.

For example --- you have a shirt you are selling and you have six mediums light blue 4 grays light blue.

I am looking to have a drop box that you can query the colors and sizes in stock and display the sizes available at the present time in the drop box, once a size is selected reresh the page and have a drop box that queries what colors are available in that size only giving out the available colors for the user to choose.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im also up for other opinions on easier way to do this so feel free to chime in. 🙂

Of course it is possible. If you can say it, it is probably possible.

$result = mysql_query("SELECT shirtID, shirtColour FROM shirts") ;

echo "<SELECT NAME="shirtID">\n" ;
while ($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) {
echo "<OPTION VALUE='" . $row[0] . "'>" . $row[1] . "</option>\n" ;
} # end while
echo "</select>";

I'll let you worry about the javascript involved in having it go to a new page once something is selected, but that is the general idea. The while loop will run through the results of the query and put them in the select box.

You could use javascript to change other select boxes (tricky if you don't know how) - but just jumping to a new page is probably easier if you're just starting out.
