.php not .php3

i'm hosted by jumplin.net webhosting service. for me to have a php script run, i need to name it as .php3 or .php4. how can i make it so that i can just name my script as .php instead of .php3 or .php4?

Have you tried running it as just .php?
I was on a php3 host, and now on new host with php4, .php worked both times fine.

If it doesn't, its probably in the settings, so you'd have to talk to the hosters about that, it needs to be edited in the registry on windows hosts I think, I imagine theres something similar to be done in Linux.

You might try adding a line such as the following to your .htaccess file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .php3 .phtml .php
