Changing PHP's internal User Agent

I've had a good look around for anyone asking this before and can't find any mention of it ... when PHP goes off to get a webpage for you -- using file('http:\webserver\') -- for example, it announces itself as 'PHP4.xxxx' rather than 'Mozilla 4.75 Win' or whatever.

Now the particular page I'm trying to get is one of those Javascripted ones, which checks to see what browser you are using, and it hasn't been told about PHP, so it doesn't give me the page I want. How do I set PHP up to report itself as "Mozilla 6.0", Internet Explorer etc to the webserver so that it goes to the page I want?

Anyone had experience of this? Anyone need more clarification?

I can just came up with one idea, use fsockopen.

Something like this:

$send = "
	GET /text.txt HTTP/1.1
	Accept: */*
	User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)
	Host: whatever
	Connection: Keep-Alive

";

fputs ($fp, $send);

while (!feof($fp)) {
	echo fgets ($fp,128);
}
fclose ($fp);

}

Ah yes, that one ...

I think I struggled with this for a few hours, but didn't make any headway with it. Then, like so many of my programming initiatives, I got bored and went and did something else. It seemed to make sense, but I suspect the webhost I use has some weird configuration on their server to stop this external connections sort of thing happening.
