php is SO SLOW???

I have been using php since early 3.0, and every since I installed version 4, it runs SOOO SLOWLY. Anyone else noticed this performance difference? im using nt 4.0 IIS 4. after i finish writing this, i'm going to try apache. any thoughts on why this could be happening are welcomed.

Did you perhaps use the Zend optimizer and forgot to upgrade that along with php?

Most definitely!! optimizes your code at compile time (hence the name🙂 and gives an average performance boost of 40 - 100%. At least that's what the Zend site claims. Are/were you running PHP as an ISAPI filter or CGI process? IIS is right boggy with CGI processes🙂 Try switching to ISAPI (if your not already of course) and see if that makes a difference. It should make a big difference..... at least in my experience. Hope this helps!!
